Students in Mrs. Goggin's second grade class have been geologists in science. After studying types earth materials in the last investigation students learned how earth materials are used this week. The second graders became engineers to investigate how to best mix sand and matrix (a cornstarch and water mixture that acts like a glue) to make a permanent sand sculpture. They then used the properties of clay to design a bead. Those beads were painted and turned into a necklace or bracelet for them to keep. The students had fun learning how earth materials are used in construction materials such as bricks, asphalt and concrete! #BrookwoodsBest
