Don't forget those cold weather items during this chilly season! It's better to be prepared and bring them to school than to leave them and need them. #BrookwoodsBest

In the BMS Art Appreciation class with Ms. Nousaine, students learn about art from around the world. They are currently studying the art of Japan. Students are learning about the famous Japanese painting, The Great Wave. Did you know this painting is the inspiration for the wave emoji? Students learned about the artist Hokusai and his famous woodblock print that is known around the world. Students then had their choice of medium to create their own interpretation of The Great Wave. Students chose clay, paint, marker, pen, and paper scraps. Way to work hard, Mustangs! #BrookwoodsBest

4th & 5th grade students are building and testing art robots during Mr. Granahan’s technology class as an introduction activity to their electrical unit. To be successful, students need to read and follow the provided directions. Mr. Granahan was able to use our districts 3d printer to make some of the material for these kits. Way to work hard and make us #MustangProud. #BrookwoodsBest

2nd and 3rd grade students have been working hard at their fitness testing the past few weeks in P.E. class. Students were given an assignment on Seesaw to reflect on their personal fitness scores and to come up with a personal goal for the year that they can work on outside of school. They will be revisiting this goal in the winter and spring. Students are familiar with uploading pictures and videos for different skills but this is the first time that they had to write using this program in P.E.. #BrookwoodsBest *More pictures on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/GenoaCitySchools/

The first grade classes have incorporated some play workshop time into their schedules this year, to help ease the transition from kindergarten to first grade. Students from Mrs. Jahn's class look forward to getting into groups for this less structured time and have been improving their skills in communication and cooperation. Way to work hard, Mustangs! #BrookwoodsBest

Don’t forget that it is daylight savings at 2 a.m. Any device that does not have a smart clock needs to be manually changed. It’s also recommended to change your batteries to all smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in your home as well! #BrookwoodsBest

Recently, Mr. Guth accepted a check for $1,000 from Walmart Lake Geneva. Wellness is one of three key areas of focus for our district and we are looking forward to being able to use this grant money to enhance our student wellness programming! We are looking specifically at ways to add equipment to supplement recess options and to bring new opportunities for physical activity to our FREE Family Fun Night in January. This winter, we will be offering regular Family Open Gym time in January and February. During this time, our community will have access to both our Middle School Gym and our Fitness Center. We also offer year round Zumba and Yoga classes by certified instructors. We appreciate Lake Geneva Walmart's support in helping our students and their families stay active and well! #BrookwoodsBest

Attention Brookwood families and caregivers: We need to hear from YOU! As you know the Genoa City Joint 2 School District received a $22,000 Mental Health Grant from the Department of Public Instruction this year. A portion of the funds are being used to provide families with additional training opportunities around some key areas of mental health. We would like you to take the survey below in order to help us design a program that best meet the needs of our community.  We had a wonderful turn out last spring for our free parent program about Children and Anxiety and we look forward to providing similar opportunities like that this year. Please take a few minutes to fill out the following parent survey. We would greatly appreciate it.  https://tinyurl.com/y332tbpc
