We love her special book she has to share with us this weekend because we haven't seen one of these shown yet! For this read aloud, Mrs. Conrardy focuses on rhyming---a critical skill that is focused on in early learning. Milestones are behaviors or skills that we expect to see by a certain age. Screening in early childhood ensures that your child is on track for development that will lead to academic success. If your child isn't meeting milestones on time, they might benefit from early intervention to build their skills. This is from the American Academy of Pediatrics https://www.aap.org/en-us/advocacy-and-policy/aap-health-initiatives/Screening/Pages/Getting-Started.aspx Did you know? 1 in 4 children are at risk for developmental delay. Early intervention is more likely to be successful due to the amount the brain changes in early development. We are excited to offer our FREE Early Childhood Party! Children 18 months-3 years old at BES on April 30th. Our certified staff will be running exciting games and activities that will target specific developmental areas such as: fine motor, gross motor, speech and language, social emotional, and pre-academics. Parents will fill out a screening questionnaire beforehand, then bring join their child while our professionals interact with your child to make sure everything is on track for success! RSVP to Jayme Wisneski at 262-279-6496 or email Jayme.Wisneski@gcj2.k12.wi.us

7/8th Grade Art Appreciation classes learned about the painting "The Woman in Gold" and her fascinating history. Students looked at the use of patterns in the painting and were challenged to create patterns in their work. These scratch art projects were made using scratch art paper and magazine photos of people. Great work Mustang artists!

It was hands-on learning in 7th grade science recently. Students are studying the circulatory system, and had the opportunity to dissect boar hearts. They were able to see how the twisting and turning veins and arteries connect with the chambers of the heart. What a complex and amazing organ! Those who were comfortable were able to handle the hearts, following the pathway from right side, to lungs, to left side, to body, and back again to the right side of the heart. They were then able to connect our knowledge to previous learning of the respiratory system, and will take this experience into making connections to the digestive system.

Although Arbor day isn’t until April 30th, Brookwood’s 4/5 graders celebrated early! The Wisconsin forestry association donated over 220 saplings to celebrate Arbor Day! All Students, including virtual students, received a white pine sapling and had a lesson on Arbor Day. The 4th and 5th graders learned all about the importance of trees and what they do for our environment and our economy. They were also taught how to plant their trees! We hope you see a lot of white pine saplings planted around our community!
