Don’t forget that it is daylight savings at 2 a.m. Any device that does not have a smart clock needs to be manually changed. It’s also recommended to change your batteries to all smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in your home as well! #BrookwoodsBest

Recently, Mr. Guth accepted a check for $1,000 from Walmart Lake Geneva. Wellness is one of three key areas of focus for our district and we are looking forward to being able to use this grant money to enhance our student wellness programming! We are looking specifically at ways to add equipment to supplement recess options and to bring new opportunities for physical activity to our FREE Family Fun Night in January. This winter, we will be offering regular Family Open Gym time in January and February. During this time, our community will have access to both our Middle School Gym and our Fitness Center. We also offer year round Zumba and Yoga classes by certified instructors. We appreciate Lake Geneva Walmart's support in helping our students and their families stay active and well! #BrookwoodsBest

Attention Brookwood families and caregivers: We need to hear from YOU! As you know the Genoa City Joint 2 School District received a $22,000 Mental Health Grant from the Department of Public Instruction this year. A portion of the funds are being used to provide families with additional training opportunities around some key areas of mental health. We would like you to take the survey below in order to help us design a program that best meet the needs of our community.  We had a wonderful turn out last spring for our free parent program about Children and Anxiety and we look forward to providing similar opportunities like that this year. Please take a few minutes to fill out the following parent survey. We would greatly appreciate it.  https://tinyurl.com/y332tbpc

Miss Flood's class read a book called "The Kindness Quilt" by Nancy Elizabeth Wallace. The students in the story decided to perform acts of kindness for others in their home, neighborhood or community. They drew pictures and wrote about their kind acts and made their pictures into a kindness quilt. The students decided to have their own kindness challenge in Room 107. You can see their quilt hanging in their classroom window. Miss Flood’s class will be letting other classes know about true kindness challenge and challenge them to do the same. They can't wait to see how big their quilt grows! #BrookwoodsBest *see more pictures on Facebook!

Don't forget! This week is our Red Ribbon celebratory week! Here is tomorrow’s events/dress up! BES: Mix it up at lunch day – As a way to teach tolerance, Brookwood Elementary School will be participating in the international Mix It Up at lunch Campaign. Students consistently identify the cafeteria as a place in their school where divisions are clearly—and harshly—drawn. So we ask students to move out of their comfort zones and connect with someone new over lunch. Students will randomly draw a colored card from a box and will sit at the matching table. Meeting new students and possibly sparking new friendships. (Wear mix matched clothes). https://www.tolerance.org/mix-it-up BMS: Dreaming of where your journey will take you! PJ Day #BrookwoodsBest
