Students in Session 1 of the Green Thumbs summer school session found many delicious delectables in the school/community garden! They learned about types of gardens and container planting. They studied organic gardening, soil composition, insect pest control, composting, varieties of plants, and seed saving. They explored a daily mystery item from the garden & learned about the health benefits of growing produce. If you are interested in helping with the community garden, please contact Mrs. Kanthack -- MaryEllen.Kanthack@gcj2.k12.wi.us

Last week, incoming 4K and 5K enjoyed all things ice cream in this summer school session! They engaged in dramatic play by selling ice cream from the ice cream truck. They painted, colored and crafted ice cream projects. The kids enjoyed sundaes and learned how ice cream is made --they also made their own ice cream in a bag! Students practiced literacy and math skills through ice cream games as well. Way to work hard, Mustangs!

In last week's Summer School Photography class, students learned how to take photos up close, at different angles, how to focus on a subject, and what composition means in photography. They took photo walks inside the school and outside in the school forest. The week ended with students creating a photo album with their favorite photos to take home!

Students in PE Potpourri have been very active these past two days. They've played musical chairs, tag, and done relays in the hallway. Sharks and minnows has been their absolute favorite game to play though! They have been having so much fun playing all their games that students always leave this class very tired and sweaty, as does Ms. Wagner! Friendly reminder for all students to do their best in bringing a water bottle to summer school every day! Interested in joining session 2 of summer school that starts on Monday?!
