This year our 4K & 5K registration process has adapted with the times a bit. We want to be sensitive to the health and safety of our families and future students, as well as to our current students and staff. We do want to limit the exposures and close contacts to all of these groups. Our goal this year has been to remain safe, healthy, and open for our community. This year we will be offering two different options for 4k and new 5k student registration. The 1st option is a virtual tour and introductions to our staff and programs. This will be through the connected video links we have posted here. 4K Video: https://youtu.be/gjyd6niyOQY 5K Video: https://youtu.be/l1Lf28LoAg8 This week from Monday March 22nd - Thursday March 25th we will be accepting registration materials at the BES Office from 7:45am - 3:45 pm. Mrs. Wisneski will be in the office to receive filled out registration packets, verify birth certificates and addresses, as well as to answer any questions you may have. Registration packets have been sent out to any families that have signed up on our district website. If you still need a packet or missed the registration week, you can still get registration packets sent to you by going here: https://www.genoacityschools.org/o/bes/page/4k-5k-registration In addition we will have packets at both the Brookwood Elementary and Middle School offices for pick up. The second registration option is to attend our registration night on March 25th. This will be from 5-6:30. We do ask if you are choosing this option that you call Mrs. Wisneski to sign up for a time slot for your family. The inperson night will include all the information from the virtual tour, and classrooms will be open for you to step into if you would like. Whichever option works best for you and your family, please have all registration materials filled out prior to coming to the school. This will expedite the registration process and limit waiting and long lines. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at 262 279-6496. Make it a great day and Go Mustangs.

March is Music in Our Schools Month. This year, Covid has caused music to look different. Whether at home or at school, our students are having a great time participating in musical activities. Last year, the Musication site created videos for families to play at home. From activities like this, students learn rhythm, how to cooperate in a group, and music appreciation. Some of these have been shared through SeeSaw for our at home learners. The Snyder family chose "musical instruments" to play along with The Can Can. It is a lot of fun to play along with this game-styled activity. Check it out here: https://tinyurl.com/3jnxfmbc Grab a box of pasta and a plastic container - or whatever you have handy, and give it a try. We are thankful for our connections on helping to grow the next generation of future educators. Our work with Carthage has been on going and we love being able to work with them and our future physical education educators. We are also truly thankful for the donation of PE equipment they’ve given to our BMS PE department.

The wait is over! This week Tuesday and Wednesday during their P.E. classes, both virtual and on-site students will be participating in our Kids Heart Challenge Jump Event. They will be doing activities to get their hearts pumping as well as learning about the importance of heart healthy habits and helping others! Students will be given glow necklaces but feel free to send them in blacklight reactive and glowing gear! Virtual students can find the event links and class times in their P.E. Seesaw accounts. Extra Incentives: Did you know that we have raised over $13,000 already and that all students who raise over $250 will get to PIE A TEACHER? Only a few more days to earn this extra incentive! We’ve had 105 students register and challenge themselves to be healthier by either drinking more water, moving more, or being kind. Registering is FREE. Classes that have 75% or more of their students registered will earn a free recess pack to help them stay active. Ms. Flood’s class and Mr. Hanson’s class have already earned this, way to go! Don’t forget all fundraising is DUE this Friday, March 19th! http://www2.heart.org/goto/brookwoodgenoacity If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Brenek briana.brenek@gcj2.k12.wi.us
