BES Kindness Squad is very excited about their last service project of the year! They have set their minds to preparing and running a donation drive for the Lakeland Animal Shelter. Kindness Squad needs the help of our Brookwood families, friends and the community to make their donation drive a success. Here is a video they have helped to prepare to get the word out about Lakeland Animal Shelter and their donation drive that runs from May 15 - May 29th! Following the donation drive, they will be hand delivering the donations to the shelter and providing some hands-on service work while at the shelter.

If a picture says a thousand words, just check this out!!
Our spring forest outing last week offered a variety of activities for all ages. Students across the district spent some time in our school forest. Groups spent time doing various activities such as removing an invasive species to save the forest, use binocular-hand lenses-viewers to observe off trail, collect and make bookmarks & bracelets, scavenger hunts, and see the
community garden.
For some groups, another part of the day was spent doing eco-art projects, playing predator-prey tag, and beginning their units on children's mental health. It was a day packed full
of exploration, observation, learning and creativity!

4K friends and families will enjoy an evening of olympic sized fun. Students will compete in nursery rhyme themed events. There is no graduation ceremony for 4k students. 4k students must be with an adult (this is not a drop off event). Last day of regular 4k programming is June 4th. There is no school for students in 4k on 6/5.

This morning, the 3rd grade Kindness Squad (with the help of their families) put on an amazing breakfast for the BES teachers! There was everything from biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage, yogurt with granola, waffle bar, beautiful fruit, yummy pastries, and desserts. The students were beyond excited to be able to serve the teachers breakfast. We are so proud of their dedication to kindness and serving others.

The schools were a sea of green today as staff and students showed support for Children's Mental Health Awareness. DPI, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, announced six Wisconsin educators named as finalists for a national award distinguishing science and mathematics teachers for their achievement in teaching these subjects, and Genoa City Joint 2 is proud that MaryEllen Kanthack has been recognized in the science category as one of the six! The 2024 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching is considered the U.S. Government’s highest honor for science and math teachers. Kanthack teaches sixth grade at BMS and credits her students, community and colleagues for her inspiration and the success of her work. Her submission was based on research regarding how scientific argumentation in the classroom builds collaborative work and raises achievement in understanding science concepts, along with examples of many things she has accomplished for Brookwood, the state, and nationally. Congratulations, Mrs. Kanthack! Way to make us #MustangProud!!
