The second graders worked on learning how to play the drums and the xylophones over the past two months. While we were not able to practice as a large group due to covid, we got together one time so that the students would have the opportunity to experience the instruments within a large ensemble. The students did a terrific job listening and working together. We all look forward to the day when we can practice together and bring a performance to you in person! https://youtu.be/s-X5mrBKiek

Kindergarten scientist have been studying living and non-living objects in their space. They have learned that living incorporates growing, taking in food, and having babies. This includes plants! Some classes are growing beans and some are growing flowers for a butterfly garden thanks to one of their virtual classmates!

Take a walk in the woods behind the middle school to enjoy the daffodils planted by our community in 2011 in memory of 9/11 victims and their families... a reminder of resilience and need for peace.

8th grade scientists observed native plants that are springing up in the woods. They will observe their marked plant over 3 weeks to note change, specialized parts, and identify the genus and species.

We are so excited to announce that at last night's school board meeting Mrs. Kanthack was presented with an award for being a finalist for the 2020 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching! The PAEMST program is the highest award from the federal government specifically for STEM subject teaching. Way to go, Mrs. Kanthack! Way to make us #BrookwoodProud

Our elementary music classes LOVE working with the classroom instruments. One of their favorite ones to work with are the xylophone!

In 7th grade last week, students were able to dissect frogs and see how various body systems and organs work together. The first day was spent examining the exterior anatomy and mouth. The second day focused on internal organs and systems. The students were so curious and worked well with their lab groups. This was a great way to wrap up our unit on human body systems!

Milestones are behaviors or skills that we expect to see by a certain age. Screening in early childhood ensures that your child is on track for development that will lead to academic success. If your child isn't meeting milestones on time, they might benefit from early intervention to build their skills. This is from the American Academy of Pediatrics https://www.aap.org/en-us/advocacy-and-policy/aap-health-initiatives/Screening/Pages/Getting-Started.aspx
Did you know? 1 in 4 children are at risk for developmental delay. Early intervention is more likely to be successful due to the amount the brain changes in early development.
We are excited to offer our FREE Early Childhood Party! Children 18 months-3 years old at BES on April 30th. Our certified staff will be running exciting games and activities that will target specific developmental areas such as: fine motor, gross motor, speech and language, social emotional, and pre-academics. Parents will fill out a screening questionnaire beforehand, then bring join their child while our professionals interact with your child to make sure everything is on track for success! RSVP to Jayme Wisneski at 262-279-6496 or email Jayme.Wisneski@gcj2.k12.wi.us
